Mmmmm

With every sip you’re comforted with the sweet aromas of fresh coffee and warm maple syrup.
Inspired by cold Canadian-type weather and Canadian Club Whisky, on sale, I was thinking about making a warming Canadian drink. Maple syrup and Canadian Whisky are two products native to our northern neighbors. So here is my attempt at Canadian Coffee. The special nuance here is the maple syrup used as a flavoring and a sweetener in both the coffee and in the whipped cream.
Start with a robust coffee because the flavorings and whipped cream will soften the coffee flavors. A dark French roast gives deeper flavor, and, since you’ll likely drink it in the evening, it’s good that dark roasts have less caffeine. Please to take the little extra time to make whipped cream instead of canned aerosol stuff.
Canadian Coffee is easy to make in about 10 minutes. While the coffee is brewing, make the whipped cream sweetened and flavored with maple syrup. Then once the coffee is brewed all you need to do it add the ingredients in a glass cup or a mug.
Canadian Coffee Recipe
4 oz robust coffee
1 oz Canadian Club Whisky
1 to 2 Tbls Maple Syrup
Maple Whipped Cream * recipe below
Place coffee, whisky, and maple syrup in stemmed glass mug; stir to mix. Top with Maple Whipped Cream.
*Maple Whipped Cream Recipe
1 cup heavy cream (1 pint of whipping cream)
3 tablespoons of real maple syrup
In a large, chilled bowl whip the cream until soft peaks form. While still whipping, gradually beat in the maple syrup. Continue beating until firm peaks form, but don’t overdo.
If you’re crazy enough you could do a flaming presentation.
